Many people will not know the first thing about infrared heaters and how they work, and I am happy to admit that until a little while ago I was amongst those people. However since I have learnt that they work by heating the objects around them rather than the air, I know that they are a lot more effective than traditional convection heaters and are well worth looking into. In this review we are going to be taking a look at the Duraflame 9HM8101-O142 to see how it stacks up!

The features

As mentioned above, infrared heaters work in a different way to convection heaters and this makes them a lot more effective and useful. The Duraflame can provide heat to up to 1,000 square feet of space thanks to its supplemental zone heating. Unlike convection heaters, the infrared one will not dry out the air and it will retain all of the natural humidity making it perfect for those with allergies. There are additional safety features on the machine too, with it staying cool to the touch as to avoid any kid or pet related accidents, and there’s an automatic shut off should the internals get overheated. If you want to take a look at the features other heaters may have, then you can do so at MyInfraredHeaters.

What does it look like?

Duraflame have designed this piece to be efficient, yet neat and tidy. It has taken inspiration from some classic design elements and its wooden casing will suit most living rooms and bedrooms. It is also small enough to be easily potable, so you can take it from room to room if things start getting really cold in those winter months.

It does an awful lot in what is a very small package. The fact that this heater does not waste its energy on heating the air around it, rather just the objects which need heating (I.E you and your family) means that it is a lot more energy efficient than other similar, non infrared machines. This technology also means that it does not cause changes to the atmosphere of whichever room it is put in, so if you suffer from asthma then this could be a big selling point.

What are the negatives?

You will struggle to find fault with this little machine. It seems to do everything it sets out to perfectly! There are some grumblings that after a couple of years it will begin to stop working, but these complaints are yet to be verified. The only other thing I can think of possibly being wrong with the Duraflame is its unique look. Whilst it should look ok in almost any home thanks to its classic design, it may not be for everybody.

What’s the conclusion?

When something works as well as this infrared heater does then it makes the whole process of writing a conclusion a hell of a lot easier. If you are looking for a heater which quite simply works, doesn’t take up too much room and can save you money in the long run then go and buy this now!
